As mentioned, the neighborhoods have a different feel when driving through them. The space between the homes and the fact that almost all of the homes are one level provides a consistency and low density many buyers crave in today's housing market.
Single Story
Ranch homes offer a simple exterior and almost always are built from brick. Many are what's called "double brick," which means that the exterior walls are two bricks thick. This provides benefits such as additional insulation and soundproofing. A brick home is one of the most durable types of construction.
Gabled or Hipped Roof
These roofs are pointed at the top. The way it points determines the difference between a hipped or gabled roof. This type of roof is synonymous with the ranch style.
Typical Floor Plan
Ranch home interiors usually are two rooms deep and four rooms wide. The kitchen is usually adjacent to the family room, and the bedrooms are usually clustered on one side of the home with living spaces on the other.
Mature Landscaping
While this isn't necessarily associated with ranch homes, the fact is that most ranch homes in Tucson are 40+ years old. The landscaping and neighborhoods have a mature and alluring character to them.
